Argh….Bedtime Wars

Tasha has been sleeping in a twin bed for a few months now. At first, she would get outta bed a thousand times just because she could and ask for the usual; water, pee, whatever. After a week of that, she started going to bed without incident. We started to put her to bed a little later and figured that had done it. Until last week, when one night she got up twice then the next she WOULD NOT go to sleep or stay in her bed. We tried everything we could think of and MORE! Talking to her, ignoring her requests, giving in, laying down with her, etc. Nothing doin;! Finally, after an hour of this charade, I went downstairs and ignored her. Well, it took an hour of listening to her scream-cry and then suddenly….we heard her shut her door and then silence. BINGO!

It’s worked ever since. We put her down, she now opens her door, pretend-cries for maybe a minute or two and then shuts the door and puts herself to sleep.

Snowy doesn’t like cold food!

For the past few months, Tasha has been feeding Snowy with a spoon, bowl and bib and will even put him in her little booster seat. Well, of late, I noticed her putting the bowl on the counter first, waiting a few seconds then saying “All done” and taking the bowl into Snowy and feeding him. It took me a time or two to figure out what she was doing. I finally got it when she started “beeping” after she’d put the “food” on the counter, or….in the pretend microwave! Snowy doesn’t like cold food apparently!

Playdough…uh-oh

Too bad we don’t have a picture of this one! Tasha had been playing with playdough under Mom’s watchful eye one afternoon and had a ball with it! Literally….she kept asking me to make a ball with it! Anyways, later in the evening, she kept asking for a ball, but when I gave her the beachball she didn’t want it. I finally figured out what she wanted. She meant the playdough. Kevin was in his highchair eating and Tasha was playing happily with the dough. I turn my head for two minutes and find the playdough in Tasha’s mouth. OK, not a huge deal, a little scolding and she understood. But…uh-oh some of it was missing. Like, half of it…We searched all over thinking it was mashed into the carpet somewhere. To our horror, (and here comes the uh-oh part), it was in KEVIN’s mouth. Our sweet little girl, who is learning to share, decided that Kevin would like to try some of her playdough as well!! ew!

Running

Well, I was a good girl last week and went running four nights. It was pretty tough the first time and a little hard the second time, but the third time I went-it was so refreshing and just fun! I ran further than I thought and by the time I was on my way home I must admit I was thinking…hmmmm, I overdid it! But I was proud of myself for pushing through the challenge. It felt great! Now if I can just keep it up!

Mom’s Going-Away Party

For any of you who didn’t know, my Mom left today for Hamilton, Ontario. She decided to move back to her roots and spend some quality time with her sisters and brother. I’m glad for her because I know it’s what’s right for her and she’ll have so much fun going to her old stomping grounds. She’s going to be able to do a lot of family history there too since that’s where our ancestors were.

I threw her a going-away party on Saturday with a few friends and the family. It was a complete success, which is happy. Quite a few people couldn’t attend, but there were enough people to make it a little crazy! We had a good time and a few people stayed until hours after the party was over!

Here are some fun pictures from the party:

I had a lady from church teach me how to properly decorate the cake. We still had a few glitches, but it turned out ok.

Here’s Natasha helping herself to the cake! She’d already had at least one piece that she snagged from Cousin Jaron when he wasn’t looking!

Is anyone seeing this? Mom made a yummy cake! Hey, Jaron, you didn’t want this right?!

Is this a pose or what!? For a girl that won’t pose for the camera to save her life, she did a pretty good job here!

Tasha, the gourmet chef!

Well, as you can see from the photos, Natasha has been busy! I made a quick 4 min phone call, only to return to the kitchen and find Tasha in the middle of a baking powder and baking soda sand dune! She did get alot of it in the bowl, to her credit, but she was still covered in it. She was mixing up her concoction when I caught her. Boy did she jump when I said her name!!! Funny girl!
