So, it’s official, I did lose the camera. I talked to a neighbor who said she saw it at the park a day after I left it there and didn’t know who’s it was, so she left it there. Unfortunately, someone else did not. I’ve put up a lost poster, but no bites. I guess I just wait and hope and pray it comes back…..in one piece……with the memory card. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh
Well, that’s what I get for always talking about how my camera takes crappy pictures….I think I lost it…my camera, I mean. Sad =( No more blogging for me for a while and the saddest part is that there are a ton of pictures on that memory card in the camera. A month’s worth, including the kids first day of school pics. Sniff… sniff….I’ll be alright.
Annika turned 1 on July 28th! How fast one year went by. Already she’s seemingly grown up. She’s walking a little, talking a little, getting her molars and has the cutest sense of humor. And yes, she knows when she’s doing something she’s not supposed to be b/c as soon as you say “Annika…” she shakes her head no. With a sheepish little grin, of course!
We had a small, quiet little birthday party for her. Balloons and streamers of course, but just our little family and my Mom. I made her a yellow cake, frosted with cream cheese frosting as a pink petaled flower with a green center. She had no problem digging right into the cupcake! Yum! She opened her presents: a piggy bank, a bunch of Annika-size books, two new toys and some clothes.
The Birthday Girl!
Trying to escape
Unfortunately, this is the only pic I have of the cake. Dumb camera! One of these days I’ll stop saying that, ’cause we’ll get a new one!
The birthday baby and her Mom
Mmmmmmm, good cake Mom!
Our little family
Poor Annika didn’t get much chance to play with her toys, since brother and sister wouldn’t leave them alone! Apparently baby toys are exciting!

Moving into mid-July finally…sigh, will I ever get up to date?!
I picked up Mom from the airport after our week in Colorado Springs. I went straight to the Mannings for an overnight stay, then picked up Mom the next day and headed home. We just visited the first few days.
Our first real outing was to a place called Shrine Pass, just past Vail. We really wanted to see the wildflowers and short of driving three hours to Yankee Boy Basin to see the most amazing display of flowers ever, we settled for driving and hour to this place. It was at the end of the real showy period, but still beautiful nonetheless. We found a pretty meadow and got out to explore. The kids loved all the flowers and picked a bunch to take home. Annika sat right down in the midst of them and was in awe, touching and taking in every little petal and leaf.

sound of music….

In awe of the beauty that the Lord created
It was pure sweetness watching her touch flowers for the first time
Tee hee, this was supposed to be a picture just of Annika!
Tasha was so thrilled to pick me a bouquet of so many pretty flowers and such a variety of colors. She made sure she got some of each. (it was a nice change from the dandelions I get at home!)
This was that same evening, I believe. The girls in their matching jammies. Tasha thinks it’s the cat’s meow to be matchy-matchy with her little sis. It’s adorable!
The following weekend was Gypsum Daze. A local fair/festival type thing in the next town over. Not as good as last year’s events, I must say. Still a good time though. They always have a 5k run, parade (which we missed), lots of yummy, greasy food, free face painting and bouncy houses for the kids and a cool car show.
My friend Lauren & I did the 5k. We made it in about 31 min. Not bad for us, considering we’d only been practicing 2 miles. It was kind of exhilarating running with all the other runners. It helped me keep going and man, was it a satisfying feeling, crossing that finish line! Whew! After showering and changing, we all went back to enjoy.
Here are a few pics from the events…there aren’t more because Annika was cranky and it was SUPER hot, plus Mom came down with a really cruddy cold/flu that would last the rest of her visit with us, so she needed to rest.
Walking with his bucket feet
This was a gigantic cow and a million huge bubbles would come out of the udders….it was hilarious!!! The kids had a blast popping the bubbles and bashing into other kids who also weren’t looking where they were going, since they were watching the bubbles too…..
He got some!
Sorry there aren’t more from this day, but that’s all we took!
Here are some Sunday shots from the next day:
Tasha helped me make a berry crumble pie. Boy was it yummy! Isn’t she cute in her little frilly apron? I love it! Thanks Auntie Julina for the fun apron.
Intently mixing the dough for Mom.
Our sweet eldest girl, pretty in pink!
Wish I had a better one, and I know I took a ton more of these, but for some reason when I exported the pics to my computer, this was the only one there. Weird. Still cute, but not my fav. However, it had to make it on here….can you guess why? You guessed it! Matching dresses, of course!
Oh Kevin, Kevin, Kevin! LOL
How I love this crazy boy!
This is his sweet, cheesy, hurry up and smile nicely and you’ll get a candy, face!
Sibling love…it happens once in a while.
Annika playing Mommy to Tasha’s baby
She kept patting the baby’s back and giving her hugs….so sweet!
We laid low for most of the next 9 or 10 days that Mom stayed. But we did go to the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail. They had a great playground for the kids and beautiful gardens and water features for us. It was an exhausting day for Mom, but worth it, I think.
Pushing the kids on the swings
Tasha giving Kevin the “Twister”
Kevin liked it!
This was in the children’s garden. They had lots of garden decorations, like those things that spin around and kids had planted the flowers.
Grammy gave them pennies so they could make a wish
Love you Grammy!
Love you too Grammy, but man the sun is bright, where’s my hat?!
Here are some other candid shots from Mom’s visit:
Sassy Annika taking off her headband. You can tell by her face that she knew she was being mischievious!
