Tasha + Tanner sitting in a tree…

Yesterday, Tasha started talking about this Tanner boy again…apparently, she’s already betrothed! When asked why she’d want to marry him, I was told that he’s handsome and nice and has a nice hairdo. She then informed me that next time I volunteer in her classroom, I needed to tell him that he’s going to marry her too. Oh REALLY!

Today, she was going on and on about him again! I think we’d better meet this boy if he’s going to be our future son-in-law! 😉

More of Tasha

“After I’m six, I’ll be seven and then eight….I’m growing up too fast.” And then a few minutes later.

“You’re going to miss me when I go to college, won’t you Mom, ” as she pats my arm reassuringly.

“Even Kevin is going to miss me!”

Out of Tasha’s mouth

Today as I was cleaning up our lunch things, Tasha says to me out of the blue, “Mom, you know? Tanner’s really handsome.”

“Who’s Tanner?”, I ask.

“He’s a boy in my class,” she responds

“He always has a nice hairdo.” she continues

(at this point, Ammon walks into the room)

“A nice hairdo, like me?,” says Ammon, teasing.

“No, a lot nicer than yours,” says sassy Tasha.

(Ammon and I break into hysterics with mock shock)

Later Tasha tells me, “Mom, when you volunteer in my class, I’ll introduce you to Tanner.”

Awwwww….her first crush….but at age 5!!!!! YIKES!

Photoshoot for fun

The oldest two kids and I matched today, unintentionally. We all wore black, white and red, so I thought it was a good excuse to take a picture.

Motherhood….it IS all it’s cracked up to be!

I’ll admit there are PLENTY of times that I haven’t felt this way. Times when I’ve wished for a moment I was working because it would be easier or thought I couldn’t do it, didn’t want to do it, or just was plain ole fed up with the duties and responsibilities of being a wife and stay at home mom. This is also not to say that I’ll never feel that way again, we all have bad days. Lately though, I’ve come to realize how amazing my children are. They learn so quickly and have so much love to give, if I give them the time they need. The best part is, they LOVE, love, love to spend time with me. I don’t mean that to brag or say I’m wonderful, but when I really give 100% of myself to them in the moment, they truly shine. I love being at home with them and wouldn’t have it any other way, even if there are times when there are mountains of laundry to be done, there are little pieces of toilet paper all over the house (Annika), handprints on the walls, windows and doors or I have to tell them 20 times to get dressed, go potty, cleanup their mess, etc. Being a Mother is the best thing I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to keep doing it for the rest of my existence! =)

Tooth Fairy

The tooth fairy has struck our house again! Tasha lost her second tooth yesterday and was so excited for the tooth fairy to come. I have a little sewn tooth fairy doll that has a pocket on the front of her dress that I used when I was a kid, so she was even more excited to put her tooth in the little pocket and put it under her pillow.

Sure enough, the tooth fairy came, bringing a quarter. Tasha was overjoyed with the tooth fairy’s gift and proclaimed that the tooth fairy must live in a castle, carries a magic wand and must have a lot of money. Apparently, the tooth fairy likes to share her monetary wealth with us!

Here’s a pic of Tasha with two grown-up teeth coming in….

You can see she already has one grown up tooth on the left and the one on the right pushed her baby tooth out yesterday.

Why we love our Annika

Annika’s personality has certainly grown in the past few months. She is animated and silly and loves to play.  Being chased is one of her favorite things to play, especially if the chaser is pretending to be a lion with big roars and growls. The other day I was sitting on the couch and she got on her hands and knees and crawled towards me, growling ferousiously and then belly-laughed right along with me when I couldn’t contain my laughs any longer. Tasha is one of her favorite people, and Annika giggles and squeals with delight when Tasha jumps out from her hiding place and scares her.

I get never-ending snuggles and hugs and when I’m putting her down for naps she grabs my hand and puts it on her head and rubs my hand back and forth so that I stroke her head. She’s always so excited to see me come home and squeezes me tightly.

Annika has started being helpful around the house even, handing me the clean dishes out of the dishwasher and beaming with pride when I say “thank you”. And if she needs more attention, she’ll tell you by pushing your laptop closed.

Her face lights up when she sees a dog or a cat, and loves to bring me books to read, especially if there are animals in it. And watch out if you put on some jammin’ music, ’cause this girl can boogie!

She is just so sweet and we love watching her grow….although we kinda wish she was stop sometimes and just stay little!

Oh, and don’t try to feed her or else she’ll give you what for!

This was her first time feeding herself, earlier this week. Let’s just say she had a bath after this 😉 But she loves using a spoon and a spork and thinks she’s such a big girl!

These are her first pigtails. We’ve been doing the one small pigtail thing for a while, but it’s just barely long enough now for two and oh, she was so cute with two!!!

Just another pigtail shot

This was shot today and you can tell that she’s not feeling good (fever) but I still thought she looked sweet and innocent.

Tasha…age 5, going on 25…

We’re in Costco today and Tasha says to me,”Mom? It’s taking too long.”

“What’s taking too long?” I ask.

“To be a grown up”, says Tasha

“Why do you want to be a grown up?” I say

“Because when you’re a grown up you can have babies and stuff”, replies Tasha.

I about died laughing right then and there at this random complaint and proceeded to explain that while being a Mommy is a wonderful thing, it’s a lot of work all the time too and she needs to enjoy being a kid while she still is one! =)

Last one…

Ok, hopefully I didn’t blog myself out by posting all of this stuff on one afternoon…this is the last one!

It has been unseasonably warm here lately; in the 70’s. CRAZY for October in the mountains! We took advantage of it today and went to the park for a little while. Sadly, the weather couldn’t make up it’s mind what it wanted to do and kept sprinkling on us, so we called it a day.

This is my new favorite picture of Annika!

Girl Time!

On Saturday, my friend Katie & I had the opportunity to throw a double baby shower for our pals Sarali & Tami who are both due in January with baby girls! It was so much fun and a nice break from the crazyness that has been our life lately!

Here’s what we REALLY look like!
