Annika

Annika was just looking cute the other day, so I thought I’d snap a few of her, especially since she’s turning 3 next week! Of course, I couldn’t get a normal picture if I tried, but oh well. Here are the results:

Rocky

We’ve been looking forward to getting a doggie for quite some time and hadn’t decided quite when it would happen. As fate would have it, we bumped into some adorable lab puppies in front of Walmart the other day. Rocky stole our heart and home he came: He’s six weeks old and as cute as a button! He’s been a very good boy, only having a few accidents and has been sleeping in his crate at bedtime without keeping us awake too much (still more than we would like!) and we all laugh with joy at his cute puppy antics. My favorite is watching his chubby puppy self gallop/waddle around.

Meet Rocky

(update: as I post this, Rocky is contradicting all the sweet things I said about him above. It’s a naughty puppy day today. Hoping for better things tomorrow….ok, Rocky?)

Happy Birthday Tasha!

Tasha turned 7 on June 22nd and had a high school musical party with 6 of her friends. It was a little hairy with me making the cake right up until the very moment people arrived. Annika had added to the chaos during the day by having two accidents on the floor, taking all of her clothes out of her dresser and decorating the floor with them and so much more. Did I mention she had one of the accidents while I was attempting to put one layer of sheet cake on top of the other. Um…yeah. It looked interesting. Anyways, everyone enjoyed the party and Tasha had a great time and that’s what mattered!

Tasha has been wanting a pair of pink cowgirl boots. I’d been eyeing some at Target and they went on sale in Dec, so I grabbed them! She’s worn them almost daily since she received them, despite the heat.

Aren’t they sweet?

Lots of books to read

Tasha had a friend over for the day of her party and she dressed Kevin up like this. He happily obliged, pleased to be included!

Some of the birthday gang enjoying their cafeteria-style food (mac n cheese, hot dogs, jello, apples & carrots….oh, and chocolate milk)

This one guest kept making weird faces at the party, what’s that all about?!

Then she made this one and we decided to keep her!

Yeah! This is the best party ever!

All the cute little crazies at my house for the party

Happy Birthday to you…. (I can’t believe you’re 7!)

Making a wish

Hanging out after the party

Me and my girls

Me and the birthday girl! Where does the time go?

Update

I know a few weeks since I put anything on here and I never like it when people don’t update their blogs. I love to see what friends and family are up to and I always look forward to it. So for any who were looking forward updates here and haven’t found them recently-I apologize. So, here is a brief update on what we’ve been doing.

We’ve spent the last few weeks getting unpacked and somewhat organized. We’re mostly painted now, except the bathrooms and the lower level. That will come later. Our current projects are white-washing the fireplace, painting the outside window trim and installing the evaporative cooler.

-we spent July 4th in Ouray for the great parade (including getting soaked by the fire trucks as they drove by) and the old school airplane that flew low over our heads in the canyon. The rest of the day we were unpacking and then we watched the fireworks from a lookout point on the hill we live on.

-we saw a magician at our local library and Tasha started their fun summer reading program

-had a fabulous visit with Grampa-great (Grandpa Manning) and Grandma Hazel. This was our first time meeting Grandma Hazel much to our delight. She was an amazing woman. We all enjoyed our visit immensely!

-the kids spent numerous days playing with friends at the park, the ponds and the state park

-spending time at friends homes for dinners, ice cream and visits
