Tasha has a job! I know, at 10 nonetheless! I told her when she was 10, she could start her own small animal pet-sitting business (hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, etc). Well, instead she got two 100lb dogs:
It’s hard to tell from this picture because she’s uphill from me, but these dogs are almost up to her waist. Luckily, they’re sweet and gentle and she gets to play with them for an hour a few times a week! She’s in love! (for $10/hr…I might be in love with them too;) )
Yes, the question mark is supposed to be there…we had planned to go camping months ago with our dear friends, the Sigafus’. However, I didn’t plan on going without my camping buddy (read: Ammon). So, after driving about 4 hours to return Malika and fetch Kevin, in addition to high chances of inclement weather, we decided to camp locally, at our reservoir.
Apparently, camping the weekend AFTER the 4th is a big camping weekend:
What you see on the bottom part of the photo is a cement pad, meant for an RV. What you can’t see is the R.V’s 20 feet from us in all directions. We did have one tree, oh…and a bush! =) Kind of like camping in a parking lot!
Despite this, we had a great time, due to the great company of wonderful friends!
See what I mean? Hey, Tasha..where’s your silly face?
No, that’s not your silly face, that’s your s’more face! BTW, did you know they have square, flat shaped marshmallows? They fit on your graham cracker perfectly! It’s amazing!!
Hmmmm..maybe he’s trying to keep the bears away?
The grown-ups stayed up talking way too late and then were awakened at 6 am (that’s when quiet time ends?????).
Reservoir the next day. So fun!
Relaxing in the sun. I LOVE summer!
I’m sure we did fun things during the latter half of June, but I honestly don’t remember…so onto July we go! For the 4th of July weekend, we went to Colorado Springs to my sis-in-laws home for a surprise birthday party for Ammon’s Mom’s 60th! Surprises are so fun if you can keep them. We had a fun-filled weekend with bbq, fishing, canoeing, and lots of great conversation. Ammon was pretty sad he couldn’t go, but he’s currently taking Human Anatomy and there are SO many things to know. It’s kind of consuming his life at the moment =(
On the way to the Narayans…time to chow
Mmmm…slushy on a hot day-so good!
Watermelon slushy with nerds…?What? It was actually super-yummy!
Thanks to Uncle Arvin’s help, Annika caught a fish!
I know, it’s in black & white…not on purpose. I must have selected it on my phone. I thought it was a crack-up seeing Kevin and his boy cousins with their shorts hiked up to their noses so they could play in the water. Eventually, they boys and the girls ended up swimming, completely clothed!
Last year we started an annual swap of kids..this year, we got Malika and the Narayans got Kevin.
There was cotton candy
A trip to the reservoir
Sandcastles are a must!
Gotta cool off
Having fun in the park
Eating amazing pizza (and ice cream)
We had lots of fun playing with Malika. Next year, it’s boy year!
