The other day, Tasha was drawing something at the coffee table and Annika was toddling around doing her thing, when out of the blue, Annika walks over to Tasha, puts her arm around her and hugs her. Then she pats Tasha on the back, continuing to give her loves! It was the sweetest thing…I was lucky enough to have them replay the moment.

I asked Annika if she loved Tasha and this is what I got. Annika calls her Ta-ta.

Happy Birthday, Kevin!!!!

He’s 4! Can you believe it? He’s already counting down the days till he’s 5! I just wish I could help him understand that Tasha will always be older than him and probably always do things first. He keeps telling me his teeth are loose, because Tasha is already losing tooth #2.

Well, his party was a blast, despite the lack of friends attending… we had a grand total of 0 friends that showed up, but we did all the silly games and the cake and special food anyways! I don’t think he missed them at all =) It was a Batman theme, so the house was decked out in black and yellow. We did a balloon toss, a Mr. Freeze music game & a find the bats game. After all that we enjoyed a gourmet feast of Kevin’s choice: mac & cheese, blue jello, bugles (a.k.a. catwoman’s claws) and grape tomatoes. To finish of course, we had a batman cake and strawberry ice cream.

Photo Action!

I so LOVE having a camera again! I really missed taking pictures of those little moments that you want to remember forever. So, here are some of our recent shots…with more posts and pictures to come!

Random shot of me Ammon took while I was washing the dishes…not really one of those moments I want to remember forever, but ok..

I LOVE it when she squats down like this to look at something…it used to be Kevin’s bug-watching pose too.

Fun at the park on a super-warm October afternoon

Ammon and his Dad went hunting a little over a week ago and I decided we needed to do some Halloween crafts to pass the time. I was inspired my much more talented (in the crafty arts) friend, Becca….They’re going to be pumpkins made of milk jugs, covered in paper mache & then painted…

Enjoying her crafty time….no, there’s no photo of their finished cuteness, because well…they’re not finished yet!

A rare photo of me and my sweetie…it’s a keeper!

Doing something funny

We’re baaaaacccckkkk!

It’s official! We’re proud camera owners again and will start posting as soon as time permits. Life is a little busy right now…Ammon’s been hunting, Kevin had a birthday yesterday and I’m throwing a baby shower on Saturday, so I’ll get to it when I can. We’ve already taken a bunch of pictures though and we LOVE our camera. Here it is:

camera (Sorry it’s such a small picture)

It’s gone =(

So, it’s official, I did lose the camera. I talked to a neighbor who said she saw it at the park a day after I left it there and didn’t know who’s it was, so she left it there. Unfortunately, someone else did not. I’ve put up a lost poster, but no bites. I guess I just wait and hope and pray it comes back… one piece……with the memory card. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh

Sad day…

Well, that’s what I get for always talking about how my camera takes crappy pictures….I think I lost it…my camera, I mean. Sad =( No more blogging for me for a while and the saddest part is that there are a ton of pictures on that memory card in the camera. A month’s worth, including the kids first day of school pics. Sniff… sniff….I’ll be alright.

Happy 1st Birthday, Annika!

Annika turned 1 on July 28th! How fast one year went by. Already she’s seemingly grown up. She’s walking a little, talking a little, getting her molars and has the cutest sense of humor. And yes, she knows when she’s doing something she’s not supposed to be b/c as soon as you say “Annika…” she shakes her head no. With a sheepish little grin, of course!

We had a small, quiet little birthday party for her. Balloons and streamers of course, but just our little family and my Mom. I made her a yellow cake, frosted with cream cheese frosting as a pink petaled flower with a green center. She had no problem digging right into the cupcake! Yum! She opened her presents: a piggy bank, a bunch of Annika-size books, two new toys and some clothes.

Unfortunately, this is the only pic I have of the cake. Dumb camera! One of these days I’ll stop  saying that, ’cause we’ll get a new one!

Mmmmmmm, good cake Mom!

Poor Annika didn’t get much chance to play with her toys, since brother and sister wouldn’t leave them alone! Apparently baby toys are exciting!

Mom’s Visit

Moving into mid-July finally…sigh, will I ever get up to date?!

I picked up Mom from the airport after our week in Colorado Springs. I went straight to the Mannings for an overnight stay, then picked up Mom the next day and headed home. We just visited the first few days.

Our first real outing was to a place called Shrine Pass, just past Vail. We really wanted to see the wildflowers and short of driving three hours to Yankee Boy Basin to see the most amazing display of flowers ever, we settled for driving and hour to this place. It was at the end of the real showy period, but still beautiful nonetheless. We found a pretty meadow and got out to explore. The kids loved all the flowers and picked a bunch to take home. Annika sat right down in the midst of them and was in awe, touching and taking in every little petal and leaf.

The hills are alive with the……

sound of music….

In awe of the beauty that the Lord created

It was pure sweetness watching her touch flowers for the first time

Tee hee, this was supposed to be a picture just of Annika!

Tasha was so thrilled to pick me a bouquet of so many pretty flowers and such a variety of colors. She made sure she got some of each. (it was a nice change from the dandelions I get at home!)

This was that same evening, I believe. The girls in their matching jammies. Tasha thinks it’s the cat’s meow to be matchy-matchy with her little sis. It’s adorable!

The following weekend was Gypsum Daze. A local fair/festival type thing in the next town over. Not as good as last year’s events, I must say. Still a good time though. They always have a 5k run, parade (which we missed), lots of yummy, greasy food, free face painting and bouncy houses for the kids and a cool car show.

My friend Lauren & I did the 5k. We made it in about 31 min. Not bad for us, considering we’d only been practicing 2 miles. It was kind of exhilarating running with all the other runners. It helped me keep going and man, was it a satisfying feeling, crossing that finish line! Whew! After showering and changing, we all went back to enjoy.

Here are a few pics from the events…there aren’t more because Annika was cranky and it was SUPER hot, plus Mom came down with a really cruddy cold/flu that would last the rest of her visit with us, so she needed to rest.

Walking with his bucket feet

This was a gigantic cow and a million huge bubbles would come out of the udders….it was hilarious!!! The kids had a blast popping the bubbles and bashing into other kids who also weren’t looking where they were going, since they were watching the bubbles too…..

He got some!

Sorry there aren’t more from this day, but that’s all we took!

Here are some Sunday shots from the next day:

Tasha helped me make a berry crumble pie. Boy was it yummy! Isn’t she cute in her little frilly apron? I love it! Thanks Auntie Julina for the fun apron.

Intently mixing the dough for Mom.

Our sweet eldest girl, pretty in pink!

Wish I had a better one, and I know I took a ton more of these, but for some reason when I exported the pics to my computer, this was the only one there. Weird. Still cute, but not my fav. However, it had to make it on here….can you guess why? You guessed it! Matching dresses, of course!

Oh Kevin, Kevin, Kevin! LOL

How I love this crazy boy!

This is his sweet, cheesy, hurry up and smile nicely and you’ll get a candy, face!

Sibling love…it happens once in a while.

Annika playing Mommy to Tasha’s baby

She kept patting the baby’s back and giving her hugs….so sweet!

We laid low for most of the next 9 or 10 days that Mom stayed. But we did go to the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail. They had a great playground for the kids and beautiful gardens and water features for us. It was an exhausting day for Mom, but worth it, I think.

Kevin liked it!

This was in the children’s garden. They had lots of garden decorations, like those things that spin around and kids had planted the flowers.

Grammy gave them pennies so they could make a wish

Love you Grammy!

Love you too Grammy, but man the sun is bright, where’s my hat?!

Here are some other candid shots from Mom’s visit:

There will be more pictures of this later, probably about a month from now…

nephews at park

My cute nephews playing at the park on the 4th of July

After the 4th weekend, we started the week off fresh by going to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The neatest thing about this zoo is all the hands on exhibits. The kids loved it!

We started off by feeding the giraffes. They were so cute and fuzzy!

The day after the zoo, we went to a place called “Lil Biggs” where we had lunch and then played for over an hour. It’s perfect for younger kids. The whole place is like a miniature village with a small grocery store with food and carts, a jail and firehouse, a musical room, a huge sandbox, a bouncy house, etc. A kids paradise, basically. Tasha stayed mainly in with all the babydolls and baby equipment, while Kevin had fun in the bouncy house.

The Next Adventure

was….spending a week at the Narayans house in Colorado Springs (to visit Ammon’s oldest sis and her fam). We had fun-filled, very busy week of activities. I don’t have all the pics at the moment and will have to post the rest later.

The first full day we had, we went to Helen Falls and hiked a little and had a picnic above the falls. There was a great view from the top and the falls were beautiful.

The next day was the 4th of July and we had the yummiest bbq ever. At the moment, this is the only pic I have of that day.

She was spontaneously playing with this flag and I thought, oh perfect photo opportunity….if only my camera was a little faster!

There was lots of playing going on the whole while we were visiting. Two of my favorite shots:
