Planes, trains and Automobiles…

Our little Kevin is obsessed with airplanes and cars. He LOVES the movie “Cars”and requests it often. He doesn’t get his way nearly as much as he’d like! 😉 One of his favorite places are car dealerships; he loves getting in and out of the new cars and “test-driving” them (in the showroom, of course!).

Ever since I pointed out an airplane to Tasha and him while waiting for Grammy to arrive at the aiport in June, he has been so fixated on them. That’s what he does when we go outside to play. Tasha will be running around, going down the slide, whatever….Kevin, is standing in one spot with his head cocked back, desparately searching for that winged-craft he loves so much! When the plane gets out of sight, he asks me for more, as if I could magically summon more planes our way!

Why oh, why did I want the kids to talk so badly?????

Yes, we are officially in the “WHY” stage of life with Natasha. She had one of her little “boy” friends over a few weeks ago, who has the vocabulary and verbal skills of a 5 year-old. “Why” has been a favorite of his for quite a while. You guessed it! Right after he left, Tasha asked her first “Why, Momma?” and it hasn’t stopped, even if she knows the answer!

Anazing Munch!!!

No, these aren’t type-o’s!! These are the kids newest words. Tasha is speaking in proper sentences most of the time, but still learns new words from time to time. Her newest is Anazing, otherwise known as “amazing”. She learned this word the other day, when I saw her putting our basinnet together (we’re lending it to a friend). I hadn’t shown her how and she figured it out all by herself. I exclaimed, “You put that together all by yourself? That’s amazing!” And ever since…..

Kevin kept asking for “munch” one day and I could not, for the life of me figure out what he was trying to say. Finally, I figured out that he was hungry and wanted “lunch”! You need to hear his little boy voice say it to really see just how cute it is though!

So, I was going through photos and decided that though I didn’t start this blog until 2006, that I should post older photos that some of you might not have seen, or that you’d like to see again…..There’s alot of them….get ready

This picture has a fun story….Ammon and I were downstairs and Tasha came down and was coyly asking, “where’s snowy?”, kind of shruggin her shoulders. She obviously wanted us to follow her and we did. This picture is when we had opened the door to her room and found him on her bed. She’s showing us where he was “hiding”.

Camp Crazy

Well, we made it through our first camping trip with the kids. It was a lot of fun in many ways. There were a lot of firsts for the kids; first time sleeping in a tent, first smores, first cooking hot dogs over a fire, and so on. We went with friends of ours who have a little boy, Mikie, Tasha’s age and then a little girl, Kaitlyn, who is 9 months. We did a little exploring in the woods where we saw some awesome rock formations and had a great view of the lush trees and many more rock formations poking out of the treetops.

Everything was great…..except bedtime….let’s just say that our kids have never slept in the same room before and well, Kevin was so incredibly thrilled to have his big sis sleeping beside him that….he didn’t sleep! At least not until around midnight and then a fitful sleep for some hours until 6:30 or something. We’re still recovering! We’re planning on going camping one more time this summer at least, so we’ll have to get them used to sleeping together in order to actually feel human the next day.

Here are the photos from our weekend adventure:

Little Baby Natasha

While I was gone to my friends wedding in Las Vegas, it seems that Natasha and Kevin switched roles and Tasha became a baby again. Kevin is going to be a very good Daddy. See below!

Hold on tight!

Grandma’s Birthday

Not only is today Independence Day, but it’s Ellen’s birthday. We celebrated by having the Mannings over for pie and a little refreshment courtesy of the kids! We all had a great time.

Mom’s Visit

My Mom was here for a wonderful 10 days for Natasha’s birthday. We had lots of silly fun together, lots of shopping and just enjoyed each others company. Oddly enough, it seemed to hit me more when she left for home this time, opposed to when she moved home last August. I guess because she’d been away for almost a year. It was just more real. We miss her already, but are hoping to visit again soon.

Mom and I have a tradition of going to Sweet Tomatoes together. Ammon was with us too, but he left before we realized we hadn’t taken a photo yet. The kids were very excited that they got balloons!

Natasha’s Party

We had a fantastic time playing all day in the water at a local waterpark-Splash Aquatics. There is a wading pool with a big play structure in the middle with all sorts of slides, and fountains, etc. There’s a great big bucket that dumps on everyone in 3 minute intervals and all the kids scream! So fun! Then there were two big waterslides and tubes to ride down them that kept the adults happy as well. All in all a great place for a party.

Natasha stayed in the water from 10:30-3pm, with the exception of one hour for eating and opening presents. We had a large group; Lee, Ellen, Christina, Arvin, Jaron, Ethan, Malika, Pushba, Hari, Julina, her friend Brian, myself, my Mom, Natasha, Kevin and Tasha’s friend Mikie and his parents Gina and Ryan and his sister, Kaitlyn.

Tasha got some really nice presents and just had the most wonderful time. She would’ve stayed forever if we’d let her! So it was a hit!

This is the place!

Watered down

Tasha took a long, late nap yesterday and Kevin wouldn’t take a nap at all, until we were in the car on the way to a hike….which meant they weren’t tired till later, they got up later this am…..translation=grumpy kids today! In order to get through the day, I enlisted help from a friend who also has a little guy Tasha’s age. We went to her house and the kids splashed around in a blow up pool and had a great time. Last year, Kevin was a little too young to enjoy it, so it was fun to see him really get into it. You’ll see from the pictures below that they didn’t really like it at all…..RIGHT!

Uh-oh, Kevin’s gonna get dumped on!

Doesn’t look like he minds too much!

Kevin led Tasha in some water aerobics! No Tasha, don’t lay down…run!!
